The successful candidate will provide leadership and strategic direction for transport operations to improve service quality and reduce operating costs and transform our Transportation side of operations towards operational excellence.

This role is to manage and  oversee the  planning and coordination  of  routes and schedules, so that catering uplifts and associated products reach their destinations safely, on time and in the most cost-effective way. Included in this is the planning of the in-bound logistics from the aircraft, through equipment processing and packing ready to supply both internal departments and customer schedules.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

  • Working with the Transport management team to further improve overall operational performance and  Customer KPI’s scores in Heathrow, fostering CI initiatives and provide a climate for change.
  • Monitor and report on activities against budget on a daily, weekly and monthly basis.
  • Ensure maximum efficiencies are achieved to improve budgetary targets. Investigate deviations between target and actual costs, formulate actions plans and follow up
  • Identify business improvements, complete analysis and justify any proposals for expenditure to improve the operation
  • Assessing and forecasting resource requirements
  • Managing costs through utilising company tools and measures
  • Monitoring and tracking KPI’s against key deliverables.
  • Gathering information and reporting on performance progress as required (daily, weekly, monthly)
  • Maintaining a working knowledge of the key systems that drive the department’s performance (for example, GPS, Preactor, OPRS, Ktime, Fleet Dashboard, Rostering Tools and MPS).
  • Maintaining legal/compliance across health and safety (for example, Pride & Squad), food safety, BCP, Department for Transport (DfT), security and gateOPEX.
  • Managing a team of supervisors, and Service delivery drivers/ loaders and allocators
  • Liaising with airport authorities on operations and requirements
  • Undertaking regular audits of all areas within the transport  to ensure complete adherence to agreed policies
  • Ensuring effective channels of communication at all levels so every member of the team is aware of the customer requirements and objectives and the part they play in the successful delivery of these requirements.
  • To be an active member of the management team and support colleagues in the achievement of their KPI’s
  • Attending team meetings as required and contribute to the development and growth of the business through the sharing of good practice and your own experiences.
  • Attending all necessary training programs to develop your own potential and enable your progress in the company.

Education:

  • Degree educated - Logistics, supply chain management, transport management, business management subject areas preferred.
  • Holds a Certificate of Professional Competence (CPC) / Logistics preferred

Work Experience:

  • Experience of working in a fast-paced environment.
  • Experience of managing large teams within Transport logistics.
  • Minimum of 5 years management experience with demonstrable leadership and senior management activities and responsibilities.

Technical Skills:

  • Preferably a member of The Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport
